Return and Earn automated depot opens at Prestons

State Member for Holsworthy, Melanie Gibbons MP recently opened the new Return and Earn automated depot return point at Prestons.

Located on Avalli Road, the site includes carparking and is ideal for processing bulk returns and can even handle transactions of 500 containers or more.

The Prestons return point is owned by Nepean Distributors which also runs a successful automated depot in Narellan.

Prestons Container Deposit Centre managing director Anthony Morrissey said “We are so excited to open our second bulk collection point for the NSW container deposit scheme and can’t wait to offer this redemption service to the people of Liverpool, Fairfield and surrounding areas.”

Return and Earn is a partnership between the NSW Government, scheme coordinator Exchange for Change and network operator TOMRA Cleanaway. Launched in December 2017 it has become the state’s largest litter initiative.

Minister for the Environment, Hon Gabrielle Upton MP noted “Return and Earn has been embraced across the state, with more than 500 million containers already returned, and I am excited for the local community to now have access to this through a bulk depot as well.”

The Prestons site adds to the already 630 return points in operation across the state. Other nearby return points including reverse vending machines at Woolworths Casula and Woolworths Horningsea Park and an over the counter site at Car Wash Café Club in Lurnea.
