Thanks to crafty ingenuity, the children at Kids on Crown Early Learning Centre can easily recycle Return and Earn containers inside their Grantham Farm centre.

The unique Return and Earn machine was made for the children by educator Miss Sashi, using cardboard and tape.

Painted in the distinctive Return and Earn colours of blue and green, the machine accepts eligible containers through a cheerful yellow slot.

“When children bring in eligible bottles and cans from home, our educators will help them use the machine and pop their recyclables in,” Kids on Crown centre director Diana Cabrera explained.

“The children receive stamps as a reward for their efforts while learning about sustainability, recycling and caring for our environment.”

The early learning centre said the hands-on experience encourages environmental responsibility and shows children how small actions can make a difference.

Kids on Crown are running a ‘recycling bottles project’ and have so far raised $200 for the Kids with Cancer Foundation Australia.

“The creation of the cardboard recycling machine has exceeded all expectations,’’ Ms Cabrera said.

“It is an incredibly creative and thoughtful resource that not only supports the project but also provides valuable hands-on learning opportunities for children.

“The innovation, effort and attention to detail that went into designing and building it is truly commendable.

“We are so proud of this initiative and look forward to watching the project continue to grow throughout the remainder of the year.”
