There’s a new app in town.

The new Return and Earn app will replace the myTOMRA app in New South Wales. You will still be able to track your recycling and refunds on the new app.

Why is the app changing?

We’ve been working with our technology provider TOMRA to improve your experience with an app that puts rewarding recycling at your fingertips, no matter how you Return and Earn.

The new app maps ALL 600+ return points, including over-the-counter return points and automated depots. Later this year, you will be able to use the Return and Earn app at these sites to receive a digital refund.

What is happening to my myTOMRA account?

All NSW-based myTOMRA app users will need to switch to the Return and Earn app as your new recycling companion.

Don’t worry! You are not going to lose your account or your recycling history. If you are an existing myTOMRA app user, you can log into the Return and Earn app with your myTOMRA app username and password. Your pending refunds, recycling history and account details will be transferred from the myTOMRA app to the Return and Earn app.

How do I switch to the new app?

  1. Visit your app store and download the Return and Earn app.
  2. Log in to the Return and Earn app using your myTOMRA app username and password. Your myTOMRA account details and history will be transferred to the Return and Earn app.
  3. Once you have logged in, access to your myTOMRA account will be removed 24 hours later. You may delete the myTOMRA app at this point if you wish.

What are the features on the Return and Earn app?

– Receive digital refunds direct to your bank account or via PayPal.

– Store digital vouchers to keep your refunds safe.

– Donate your refunds to a charity or cause that you care about.

– Use the map to find your closest return point from over 600 locations across NSW. Get directions, check the live status, opening hours and other details for your favourite return point.

Troubleshooting

If you have an existing account for the myTOMRA app in NSW, log in to the Return and Earn app with your existing myTOMRA account details. Your pending refunds, recycling history, and account details will automatically transfer over. Once you are successfully logged in to the Return and Earn app, access to your myTOMRA account will be removed 24 hours later.

If you do not use the myTOMRA app, follow the instructions on the home page of the Return and Earn app and sign up with an email address or PayPal account.

Download the Return and Earn app and select “Log In” on the home screen. Select “Forgot password?” and follow the instructions. An email will be sent to the email address used for your myTOMRA account. Please make sure to check your junk folder.

Yes, you can sign into the Return and Earn app with the registered PayPal account you used for the myTOMRA app.

It is possible you have multiple myTOMRA accounts with different email addresses. Please open your myTOMRA app, go into settings, then click ‘Edit profile’. You can then see the email address you are using with your active myTOMRA account. Make sure you log into the Return and Earn app with that email address. You should then see your refund history and existing details in the Return and Earn app. If you are still having trouble, please contact us at customerservice@tcnsw.com.au and provide the different email addresses you are using to try and log into your account.

The myTOMRA app will still be visible on your phone, but in coming weeks it will no longer be active in NSW. When you open your myTOMRA app, you will see a message informing you to move to the Return and Earn app. Once you have moved over to the Return and Earn app, you can delete the myTOMRA app from your phone.

Once you are successfully logged in to the Return and Earn app, access to your myTOMRA account will be removed 24 hours later.

If you have set up your Return and Earn app with the same login as your myTOMRA app, we cannot delete your myTOMRA account without also deleting your Return and Earn app account.

If you have set up your Return and Earn app account with a different email address, we can delete your myTOMRA account.

If you would like to delete your account, please ensure there is no pending balance in the myTOMRA app, then email customerservice@tcnsw.com.au from the email address you use to log into your myTOMRA account and we can delete your account for you.

The myTOMRA app will be decommissioned in NSW in the coming weeks. All NSW app users will be required to move to the Return and Earn app. Your recycling history and any pending refunds will transfer over to the Return and Earn app if you sign in with the same email and password.

For payouts, the Return and Earn app works in the same way as the myTOMRA app. Open the app and scan the barcode at a Return and Earn machine to begin your session. Return your containers, then click transfer. Your refund will then be transferred to the payout method selected in your app.  Payout methods include bank transfer, PayPal, donation to your selected charity or digital vouchers (selected locations only).

For now, digital refunds or donations through the Return and Earn app are only available when you recycle at a Return and Earn machine. The app will be upgraded later this year to include refunds from over-the-counter return points and automated depots.
